The ST2692 is an intuitively operated insulation resistance tester in a modern design. It features a short-circuit check with ~3–4V low voltage before the actual measurement and contact monitoring at full test voltage (four-wire connection required). The measured values can be read on the graphic display with 3¾-digit resolution or output digitally via serial interface (RS232/USB), BCD-coded via the 37-pin I/O connector, and analog (0–4V).
Before starting the actual insulation resistance measurement, the ST2692 can perform a short-circuit check with a low voltage of ~3–4V. This prevents micro short circuits, for example from batteries, from being accidentally burned out and thus defective test objects being altered and not detected as faulty. If the resistance is at least 100kΩ, the measurement cycle continues.
After ramping up the voltage, an optional contact check can be performed. For this purpose, two additional connections of the ST2692, Contact Check High and Contact Check Low, must be connected separately to the test object. If the voltage applied to the test object can be measured at these additional connections, the test is successful and the actual measurement can begin.
