The Sourcetronic SBU braking unit directs the energy generated during braking in a controlled manner to an external braking resistor and converts it into heat. It is ideally suited for applications with high braking power, large mass inertias, and rapid load changes. By reliably limiting the DC-link voltage, the frequency inverter is protected, braking performance is improved, and deceleration times are significantly shortened.
The Sourcetronic SRBU-100H regenerative unit goes one step further: Instead of converting the braking energy into unused heat, the regenerative module feeds the generated energy back into the supply grid with high efficiency. This braking operation with energy regeneration reduces energy consumption, lowers operating costs, and at the same time minimizes heat generation in the control cabinet. Especially in applications with frequent braking cycles or long recuperation times, the recovery of braking energy offers significant economic and ecological advantages.
