ST300 Series | E4, what does this message mean and what can be done?

If the error message E4 appears on the frequency inverter display, it indicates overcurrent during acceleration.

Causes:
The acceleration ramp is too steep.
The mains voltage is too low.
The inverter power is too low.
Temporary load or fault occurred.
Earth fault or phase loss occurred at the output.
Strong external interference sources.
Automatic current limit is not activated.

Solutions:
Increase acceleration time P00.11 or deceleration time P00.12.
Check the input power.
Select an inverter with higher power.
Check whether the load is short-circuited (earth fault or short circuit between lines) or whether the motor is not rotating evenly.
Check the output wiring.
Check for strong disturbances.
Check the setting of the corresponding function codes P11.05-07.

If none of these causes apply, please contact technical support.
