What do BIN NO. / BIN Count, List Sweep, and Trace Sweep mean on LCR meters?

Sourcetronic LCR meters have an integrated comparison function that allows the test item to be assigned to up to eleven sorting bins (BIN1 to BIN9, BIN AUX, and BIN OUT). The user can define nine limit pairs for the primary parameter and one for the secondary. If the primary value is within the limits of any bin but the secondary is not, the item is sorted into BIN AUX (if enabled), otherwise into BIN OUT. If the primary is already out of bounds, the item goes directly to BIN OUT.

Press [DISP] and then the softkey BIN NO. to open the BIN NO. DISP screen. Here, the sorting result is shown in large font, and the measurement values in smaller font.

The BIN COUNT screen shows the tally for each sorting bin.

Using the LIST SWEEP function, up to ten frequency, level, or DC BIAS settings can be defined and measured in sequence. Each list point can have defined upper and lower limits which are automatically evaluated by the device.

The TRACE SWEEP function is available only on models ST2829, ST2838, and ST2839 due to the graphical display. It allows 101 to 801 measurement points to be collected (frequency, level, BIAS) with linear or logarithmic scaling. Changes in primary and secondary parameters are displayed graphically across the sweep. Each point can be read on the screen, and min/max values including positions are also shown.
