ST500 | Err.02 – what does this message mean and what can be done?
If the error message Err.02 appears on the frequency inverter’s display, an overcurrent has occurred during the acceleration phase.
Causes:
- Acceleration ramp is set too short (F0.13)
- Manual torque boost or U/f curve is improperly set (FA.00, F4.01)
- Motor voltage is set too low (b0.02)
- Short circuit in or near the motor
- Motor parameters missing for vector control (b0.00 to b0.10)
- Motor was already running before start
- Sudden increase in motor load during acceleration
- Inverter’s rated power is too low
Solutions:
- Adjust parameter F0.13 to extend the acceleration ramp
- Modify torque settings via parameters FA.00 to FA.07
- Reduce manual torque boost via parameter F4.01
- Set motor voltage correctly according to the nameplate using parameter b0.02, considering star/delta configuration
- Check motor and connections for short circuits
- Set parameters b0.00 to b0.10 to enable vector control (see motor parameter FAQ)
- Ensure the motor is at a standstill before restarting
- Reduce sudden load changes during acceleration or use an inverter with higher output power
- If the inverter’s rated power is insufficient, use an inverter with higher output power
