ST300er | E5 – What does this message mean and what can be done?

If the frequency inverter displays the error message E5, it indicates an overcurrent during braking.

Causes:
Acceleration is too high.
The mains voltage is too low.
The inverter’s power is insufficient.
Temporary load or fault occurred.
Ground fault or phase loss on the output occurred.
Strong external interference.
The automatic current limit is not activated.

Solutions:
Increase the acceleration time P00.11 or braking time P00.12.
Check the input power.
Choose an inverter with higher power.
Check if the load is short-circuited (ground fault or short circuit between the wires) or if the motor does not rotate evenly.
Inspect the output wiring.
Check for strong disturbances.
Review the settings for the relevant function codes P11.05-07.

If none of these potential causes are the issue, please contact technical support.
